Travel Tips

Absolutely! Your journey through North-East India will be a memorable one. Here's some advice for your trip:

Best Time to Visit:
The best time to visit Guwahati, Shillong, and Cherrapunji is from October to April. These drier months make the journey more pleasant. For wildlife enthusiasts, the best time to visit Kaziranga National Park is from mid-November to early April when the park is open for visitors.

Route and Accessibility:
Start at Guwahati, which is accessible by flight from major Indian cities. From Guwahati, you can reach Shillong by road which is approximately 3.5 hours' drive. For Cherrapunji, you travel from Shillong which is about 53 kilometers away. Kaziranga National Park is about 5 hrs drive from Guwahati.

Altitude and Acclimatization:
These places are not very high in altitude. Acclimatization issues are rare, but always keep yourself hydrated and rest well.

Accommodation and Booking:
There's a wide range of accommodation for all budgets in these locations, from luxury resorts to budget hotels. Booking accommodation in advance is always a good idea, especially during peak tourist season.

Clothing and Essentials:
Given the generally moderate climate, dress in layers. During the colder months (December - February), you'll need warmer clothes. Carry a sturdy pair of shoes as you might do a lot of walking, especially in Kaziranga and Cherrapunji.

Health and Safety:
For visiting Kaziranga, carrying a first aid kit would be helpful. Always follow instructions from the forest guide while on a safari. Drink only bottled water to avoid stomach ailments.

Local Etiquette and Respect:
Respect the local customs and tribal cultures while visiting different places. Also, while visiting religious places, dress conservatively. Remember to maintain silence during a safari ride at Kaziranga for a better chance of sighting animals.
